Parking at the Church: Regularisation of the parking area outside the garden area of the Parish Rooms.  A bollard will be installed to secure parking for church use.  Please apply to the Benefice Manager to book the parking area, and conditions of use.

Services on Sunday 5th August – Trinity 10: 8:00 am – Holy Communion (BCP); 10:30 am – Holy Communion; 6:30 pm – Evensong.

The Transfiguration: Eucharist with hymns at St Margaret’s at 8:00 pm on Monday 6th August

Choral Services will resume on Sunday 2nd Sept (St Giles’ Patronal Festival).  

St Giles’ Fair – 3rd and 4th September 2018: A message from Margaret Williamson – The Fair rotas are now in church.  As usual, we need offers for stewarding as well as for serving food.  We also need offers of filled savoury rolls and baking.  This year the Fair is as early as it can be – Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th September.  We hope that signing up promptly will encourage others to do the same, before going on holiday!

St Giles’ Parish News, November 2018: We are hoping that people of all ages, and with a wide variety of opinions, will contribute a few sentences about their Reflections on Remembrance for a special edition to mark the centenary of the end of WW1.  The closing date for submissions will be mid-October – send to:secretary@st-giles-church.org or give a hard copy to Maureen Chu or Alison Bickmore.

Project 900: Questions and Answers: After the 10:30am service, there will be a “Question and Answers” session on the current thoughts on Project 900. We will try to answer your questions, but this would be helped if you can let Andrew know what your question will be before Sunday.

Choir Tour: The choir goes to Tuscany on 26th July.

Notices for July 8th

NOTICES

Confirmation Classes: If you wish to be confirmed this year, would you please let Andrew or Tom know.

St Giles’/St Margaret’s Cricket Match at St Edward’s School on Sun 8th July: We aim to get there for 12:30, to start at 1 pm. Spectators are welcome and there will be a break for food between innings so please bring food to share (water will be provided). We will have worked up quite an appetite as lunch will be fairly late, so quantities should be judged accordingly! We need food which can be eaten without knives and forks and doesn’t need preparation on site. Sandwiches, rolls, sausage rolls, cheese and savoury biscuits, carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes, celery sticks, individual or easily sliceable cakes, small apples, and grapes are the sort of things that will work well.

Revd Georgie Simpson – 20th Anniversary of Ordination: There will be a special Sung Eucharist at 6:00 pm on Sunday 8th July at St Margaret’s, Preacher: Rt Revd Dr Rowan Williams.All are welcome to attend.

The Funeral Service for Eric Stanley will be at St Giles’ Church at Noon on Monday 9th July 2018.

Jazz at St Giles’: The Titanic House Band – with music ranging from the Beatles to Frank Zappa. Saturday 14th July, 7:30 pm. Tickets: £12/£10/£8/£5

Services on Sunday 15th July – Seventh Sunday after Trinity: 8:00 am – Holy Communion (BCP);10:30 am –Holy Communion;6:30 pm– Choral Evensong.

Churches Together in Central Oxford Taizé Unity Service 8 pm on Sunday 15th July at Friends’ Meeting House, St Giles. All are welcome.

Pilgrimage to Binsey: Andrew Bunch will lead a group of walkers starting from St Giles, calling at St Margaret’s and then on to The Perch. At 6:45 pm the Bishop of Oxford will lead pilgrims to Binsey Church for Well Liturgy and Choral Eucharist. Full details at www.osneybenefice.org.uk
