I am very pleased to report that donations to Project900 for the roof repair went well in 2017. We are now making applications to charitable trusts for the shortfall, which is around £17,000. Currently, it looks as if we are on track to carry out the repairs this coming summer.
Getting to this point has caused some strain on the general finances of the church, and the as yet unexamined accounts for 2017 show a deficit of £7000. So, this year (2018) we need to shift the focus for our finances from Project900 to covering general expenditure.
The PCC agreed a budget at its meeting in January. There have been increases in various items of our running costs in the last few years. Your generosity made our planned giving campaign several years ago very successful and we raised our income by £15,000. But with our current budget we see now that we need to raise our level of giving by £4000 to remain in a good state of financial health.
So, I write to thank you for your generosity in the recent past and to ask whether you would be willing to review your current level of giving, and help us close our funding gap in 2018?
With very best wishes,
