On the Sunday closest to November 2nd, there is a special service in St Giles’ at which we remember our departed loved ones and friends. A choir is formed to sing Faure’s Requiem and this provides most of the music for this service of Holy Communion. Those attending the service are invited to light a candle for the loved one they are remembering.
Before the service you are invited to write down the name of the person you want to be remembered in the prayers.
End of January

St Giles’ hosts the work of the Gatehouse in St Giles’ Parish Rooms and this service presents an opportunity for the church to thank all those who work with homeless people.

Carols by Candle-light
December – Sunday before Christmas
Our Christmas Carol Service by candle-light is one of the highlights of the year in St Giles’. The candle-lit setting provides a beautiful setting for some wonderful music and a series of readings reminding us of the Christmas story. Each year, this service is on the Sunday before Christmas.
A collection is taken at this service for the Children’s Society.
