Intercessions are prayers we offer on behalf of others.
Through our intercessions we hold before God those that are sick,
bereaved or in any form of trouble. Our prayers are made trusting
that they will be heard and answered, even if the answer is not
what we might have desired.
At the heart of Jesus’ teaching on prayer is “Thy (God’s) will be done.”
All our intercessions need to be offered in that understanding.
Jesus encourages us to make our intercessions with the following sayings:
“I will do whatever you ask in my name,
so that the Father may be glorified in the
Son. If in my name you ask me for
anything, I will do it.” John 14:13-14.
“So I tell you, whatever you ask for in
prayer, believe that you have received
it and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24
If you would like an intercession to be made at Evening Prayer, please
send your request to the Vicar of St Giles’.
