1857   Mr Pickard Hall – said to be the real founder of the choir, then 13 boys and 12 men.
1875   Walter Parratt (organist of Magdalen) became organist.
1882   Herbert Brewer (afterwards organist of Gloucester Cathedral).
1885   Varley Roberts (who had succeeded Parratt at Magdalen).
1893   H.B. Wilsdon became organist. Full cathedral services with settings and anthems.
