Justgiving page for Ride and Stride.

Would you like to support Anup Varghese as a member of St Giles involved in the Ride and Stride this year? He has set up a just giving page if you would like to do so. Sue Street is also taking part on behalf of St Giles.

Hello,

A Justgiving page is setup for Ride and Stride.

It would really help if you could send the link to your contacts.

Experiencing God’s Kingdom

Experiencing God’s Kingdom

This Michaelmas term, we will be starting a new venture in St Margaret’s and St Giles. We will be offering an eight-week course of Bible studies and reflections on what we believe is the heart of the Gospel message, namely love. The course will be offered in a variety of different ways and we are hoping that as many people as possible will take part in one way or another.

Each week of the course will start off with the Thursday lunch-time talk in St Giles, the first talk being on October 13th. Following the talk, the script will be sent out to members of the Benefice and others, along with two or three suggested Bible passages which you might like to reflect on. However, if you prefer to study one of the Bible passages in a group, four Bible study groups will be offered each week, each facilitated by one of the four clergy who are giving the course. In addition, there will be the opportunity to receive a daily two sentence message derived from our understanding of the Gospel which is related to the theme of the week.

If you miss out on any of the weeks, there will be a chance to catch up with the theme of the week through a series of poster boards which are to be displayed in St Giles during the course.

The Subject for each Thursday talk will be as follows:

October 13th Love: The heart of the matter

October 20th Forgiveness: How love changes lives

October 27th Compassion: What motivates love

November 3rd Mercy: What facilitates love

November 10th Living in love: The dynamic of love

November 17th Humility: The prerequisite of love

November 24th Generosity: The product of love

December 1st The incarnation: Love embodied

The weekly Bible study sessions on offer will start from October 13th and will be as follows:

Tuesday 9.45am St Margaret’s Georgie Simpson

Tuesday 8.00pm The Vicarage Andrew Bunch

Thursday 8.00pm St Giles’ Tom Albinson

Friday 11.00am St Margaret’s Stuart Brand

Please contact the leader of the group that you wish to attend.

This course has been brought into being to help us all to imagine how it would be possible to experience Christianity as a living faith in this city, opening ourselves up the possibility of engaging more fully with the Gospel message. Our hope and prayer is that as we proceed through this course our faith will be enlivened and deepened.

Yours,

Andrew.
